Scarlet Meltzer is a Senior Paralegal at Brinen & Associates where she plays a critical role in some of the firm’s most complex commercial disputes and tax controversies. Ms. Meltzer supports attorneys with drafting, research, discovery, and trial preparation, and is known for her precision, dependability, and ability to keep high-stakes litigation moving under pressure. Scarlet regularly supports the firm’s tax practice, moving seamlessly between departments as needed and contributing to client matters across disciplines.
Scarlet’s reputation is not only built on how competently she does her work, but how much people trust her to get it right. Whether she’s managing filings on tight deadlines or breaking down complicated case materials, Ms. Meltzer brings order to chaos and ensures nothing is missed.
Ms. Meltzer began her legal career at Plaza College, graduating near the top of her class and earning her A.A.S. in Paralegal Studies. During her studies, she interned at The Bagley Firm, P.C. and Renfroe Driscoll & Foster, LLP, gaining early exposure to civil rights and family law. Scarlet later joined Wollmuth Maher & Deutsch LLP, where she worked on commercial litigation and bankruptcy matters, all while earning her B.S. in Public Affairs with a concentration in Legal Studies from SUNY Empire State College as a full-time student and full-time paralegal. That balance of work and school reinforced her ability to handle complexity and maintain focus under pressure.
Scarlet joined Brinen & Associates because she wanted challenge, pace, and meaning in her work. Ms. Meltzer got all three and quickly became someone others rely on. Junior associates and law clerks frequently turn to her for guidance, procedural training, and case support. Scarlet leads quietly but effectively, helping new team members learn how to navigate the demands of litigation and tax controversy.
Ms. Meltzer’s approach is grounded in clarity, consistency, and an unwavering work ethic. Within the firm, Scarlet is recognized not only as a paralegal but as someone others learn from – because she sets the standard.
